18 New Spire Designs That Could Crown the Notre Dame Cathedral. Within forty-eight hours of the massive fire, one billion dollars had been, in part, donated by Apple, L’Oreal, Chanel, Dior, and Catholics from around the world. In the wake of the devastation, designers are already putting forth ideas for the spire. Which design gets your vote?

2The World’s Only Floating National Park. It is the only wildlife sanctuary of its kind. However, to see it, you will have to travel to Northern India’s largest freshwater lake, Loktak.

3South Korea Opens Hiking Trails on World’s Most Heavily Armed Border. Speaking of unusual, far-flung places to go. Try hiking in the DMZ. Believe it or not, the United Nations Command has approved three routes along South Korea’s newly created “Peace Trail.” Even more surprising, its 160-miles by 30-miles of no man’s land is teeming with wildlife.

4Why NASA Wants You to Point Your Smartphone at Trees. There is a new NASA app that will give your time in the greater outdoors more purpose. Professional scientists are asking citizen scientists to help confirm what is seen from space, looking down, with what is seen from the ground, looking up.

513 Foods That Are Good for High Blood Pressure. With the recent news of actor Luke Perry, 52, and director John Singleton, 51, dying so young from having strokes, I thought to share a couple of articles on what to eat to control your blood pressure level. Lowering your BP could very well prevent a stroke from happening to you.

6Why Some Doctors Are Prescribing a Day in the Park or a Walk on the Beach for Good Health. We are reading more and more about how natural environments can promote our well-being, prevent disease, and speed up recovery. The Environmental Protection Agency is saying that adults spend over ninety percent of their time indoors. No kidding, time to go out and smell the roses! Love how one non-profit has made it its mission to help healthcare professionals prescribe getting out into Nature.

7Remembering John Singleton, ‘Boyz n the Hood’ Director. In our last edition of 8 Good Things, I highlighted the loss of the legendary French New Wave Filmmaker, Agnès Varda, who was the oldest person ever to be nominated for an Academy Award at the age of eighty-nine. Sadly, at the other end of the spectrum, the youngest Oscar winner, left us far too soon. Back in 1991, at age twenty-four, John Singleton was nominated for an Academy Award for Boyz n the Hood.

8Using Movie Magic to Save Lives. Greg Loan once made theme park creations. Now, he uses his gift to make special effects and robotics to help doctors learn life-saving medical procedures at Boston Children’s Hospital. This is one of the most fantastic transference of talent and skill, from a Hollywood set to an operating room. Serving a greater good indeed.

Happiness: The Art of Life Balance
As a longtime television producer, stress was my middle name. I have spent more than a decade studying what to do about it. Now, I work with professionals, especially those in the media, to help them get out of the crazy and into the happy (and yes, I still produce TV shows). I have put together a program that can fit into anyone’s schedule and can be joined anytime.

By Appointment

Enhance a Friendship.
Take time to reach out and thank someone who makes
your soul blossom. Then do something to make that
friendship even stronger.
