1The Biggest Travel Trends of the Decade. Not only are we going to be soon starting a new year, it will be a new decade as well. For the globe-trotters, the hottest wave of travel experiences. To name a few that are my jam: Slow travel, the idea is to spend more time in one place, truly taking in what it has to offer. Experiential travel, where you immerse yourself into a different culture. Wellness tourism, coming back restored and rejuvenated. Find out the others.

2The Best Places to Travel in January. My home city of Los Angeles is the last suggestion on the list, kicking off 2020 with the New Year’s Day Rose Parade. I used to live not far from where they would park the floats at the end of the parade and could go take pictures of them. It was always a treat to see the intricate designs that were made completely out of flowers.

3The Korean Secret to Happiness and Success. It seems like another shade of mindfulness that focuses on unity, relationships, and harmony. It is called Nunchi. If you have ‘quick’ nunchi, that means you are skilled at sizing up people and their needs. It comes in handy when you are at a wonderful dinner party, and the host now wants everyone to go home.

4Gifts to Thrive By: The Gifts Celebrities and Well-being Experts Are Giving and Getting This Year. “The ultimate holiday wish list for self-care, stress relief, and a happy, healthy New Year.” Instead of giving something that will collect dust or make you fat, some healthy gift ideas. Favorites on the list were giving a retreat or spa treatment, calming candles, and sending a flower of the month.

5Bill Gates’ 5 Secrets To Happiness Are Surprisingly Affordable. His pearls of wisdom come down to this: One, ditch your twenty-year-old self and talk to your future self. Two, follow through on your commitments. I totally agree with this one. Three, give to others. This one too! Four, do more exercise. Of course, this one. Five, put love first. Absolutely!!

6Here's What Happened When I Complimented Everyone I Met for an Entire Day. Ever thought of doing a ‘Compliment Challenge?’ This article gives some useful guidelines. I make a point of complimenting people I know as well as random strangers for the very reason mentioned in this article. We do not praise others enough, and it is important. It is uplifting. It makes them feel good, and you feel good. It genuinely makes for a better moment for both of you. Here is the other thing about complimenting people. It stays with you. Long after I have complimented someone and seen their face light up, I hold that image in my mind, and it continues to feel good inside. So, the next time you are standing in a long line at the airport, say something nice to the person in front of you and see what happens.

7Four Ways to Calm Your Mind in Stressful Times. The holidays are meant to be a peaceful time. However, often, it is anything but that. So, what can you do about it? One, breathe. It calms your body’s response, regulating your emotions. Two, show self-compassion. Be kind to yourself versus being your harshest critic. Everything will get done. If not, release any judgment about yourself. Think instead that you, at least, tried. Three, connect. From the moment we are born, we feel the need to connect. So, spend time doing just that. Let go of the petty arguments and love your family, friends, and colleagues. Four, show compassion for others. Remember, everyone wants the same thing. A happy holiday season!

8The Best Christmas Movies of All Time. As we move toward Christmas, I thought I would share this year’s list of holiday films. I would have to agree with the number one pick, Frank Capra’s 1946 classic, It’s A Wonderful Life. It is a wonderful reminder that your life has a purpose. A line said by the angel Clarence to George Bailey. “Each man’s life touches so many other lives, and when he isn’t around, he leaves an awful hole, doesn’t he?”

“Never underestimate the power of dreams and the influence of the human spirit. We are all the same in this notion:
The potential for greatness lives within each of us.”

~ Wilma Rudolph, Olympian American Track and Field Athlete

Insight Timer App | Silent Wisdom Meditations
As many of you know, I teach meditation. I have been a long-time fan of the practice. Why? It is scientifically proven to reduce stress, control anxiety, promote emotional health, enhance self-awareness, lengthen attention span, reduce age-related memory loss, generate kindness, help to fight addictions, improve sleep, help control pain, decrease blood pressure; and you can meditate anywhere! Meditation is about as close as one can get to a wellness silver bullet. Recently, I started recording meditations for Insight Timer. I hope you enjoy these free guided sessions. Please follow me on the Insight Timer app.

Happiness: The Art of Life Balance
As a longtime television producer, stress was my middle name. I have spent more than a decade studying what to do about it. Now, I help professionals, especially those in the media, to get out of the crazy and into the happy (and yes, I still produce television shows). I have put together a program that can fit into anyone’s schedule and can be joined anytime.

Happy Weekend!
