1Open Ocean: 10 Hours of Relaxing Oceanscapes. If you love the ocean, you will love this endless 10-hour loop of mesmerizing blues and fantastic sea creatures.

2To Be More Creative, Embrace the Art of Doing Nothing. “Much research and many spiritual and philosophical systems suggest that detaching from daily concerns and spending time in simple reflection and contemplation are essential to health, sanity, and personal growth.” In other words, slow down and smell the roses. We are human beings. Take time, in fact, schedule it, to just be.

3Emotional Hygiene Is The New Clean. “A great reason to take care of your Emotional Hygiene is that it helps you from becoming overwhelmed.” An article I recently wrote about the importance of getting negative emotions under control.

4Even if You Live in a City, You Can Get Health Benefits from Nature. “When we allow ourselves to become entranced by the sights, sounds, or smells of nature, our minds have a chance to rest and bounce back from this fatigue.” Several studies say it is hugely beneficial to take a ten-minute break from work to walk around outside.

5For Many Students, the Most Attractive Employers Aren’t Companies. “US students across a wide swath of academic disciplines ranked governmental organizations like NASA, the National Institute of Health, and the United Nations as the most attractive employers, ahead of corporate luminaries like Google, Apple, and Goldman Sachs.” Love that this is the mindset of the Millennials and Gen Z-ers. They are seeking fulfilling work over monetary rewards. I have long held that when you do what fills your heart, the money will follow, instead of following the money.

6New Goldman Sachs Fund Will Track Paul Tudor Jones’s Feel-Good Companies. Famous for shorting the stock market before Black Monday in 1987, Billionaire Paul Tudor Jones II is now behind a fund that will track socially responsible companies.

7‘2001: A Space Odyssey’ Trailer: Christopher Nolan Presents a Stunning 70mm Print of Kubrick’s Classic. I recently saw what is called the “unrestored print” that was made from the film’s original negatives. “For the first time since the original release, this 70mm print was struck from new printing elements made from the original camera negative. This is a true photochemical film recreation. There are no digital tricks, remastered effects, or revisionist edits. This is the unrestored film – that recreates the cinematic event that audiences experienced fifty years ago.” This film redefines classic!

88 Great Strides for Freedom in U.S. History. We all know number one, the Declaration of Independence. Number eight, Freedom to Marry was passed by the Supreme Court on June 26, 2015.

Thoughtful

“Keep your face always toward the sunshine,
and shadows will fall behind you.”

~ Walt Whitman

Sojourn Experiences

Greek Islands | Inquire About Dates
Hit the pause button to sail and hike the islands in the Aegean Sea. Explore with me. Meditate. Do restorative yoga. Eat great food, and do like Zorba. Dance! Opa!! Bring together a group of six friends and set course on your own Greek Odyssey.

Photographic Safari and Mindfulness Workshops
Kenya | Botswana | Inquire About Dates

I took this photo on the last morning of a recent trip to Africa -- my favorite place in the world. Great Plains Conservation’s Wild Studio was started by award-winning National Geographic filmmakers Beverly and Dereck Joubert. This is an experience that I put together. It combines learning the secrets of great wildlife photography from a Wild Studio pro along with my Mindfulness teaching. Please join us on a uniquely curated safari that will tap into your true inner-photographer. This adventure can be shared with a group of friends or done as a solo sojourn.

Happiness: The Art of Life Balance
I am committed to helping those who sit in the overwhelm, continually feeling out of time and always stressed. As a longtime television producer, I have been there many times over and have spent a decade plus studying what to do about it. Now, I work with professionals, helping them get out of the crazy and into the happy (and yes, I still produce shows). I have designed a program that can fit into anyone’s schedule and joined at any time. For a complimentary session, please contact me.

image

By Appointment
Offering private sessions in Mindfulness, Primordial Sound Meditation, Prayer of the Heart Meditation, and Restorative Yoga. Available in-person, or on Skype and FaceTime.

Happy Weekend! Love,
Maria and Team Sojourn
